Cycling in Yorkshire
I was then back in the car and drove from Scarborough to Brimham Rocks in North Yorkshire where I was going to be cycling part of the Tour de Yorkshire route!
I arrived a little early so had a walk around the incredible balancing rock formations. The rocks are nearly 30 feet high and they look like a giant perfectly placed them all in these balancing structures.
My guide for the ride was Vern Overton from Vern Overton Cycling, a local guide who offers bike hire, guiding and also coaching. It’s been a long time since I’ve ridden a road bike but Vern’s kind encouragement had me feeling confident again and I loved our ride through the winding country lanes.
I was a bit unlucky with the weather here as it was grey and cloudy and I couldn’t see the Yorkshire landscape in all its glory so it’s definitely a place I need to go back to.
Just finished two days of cycling, riding over 150 miles of North Yorkshire. Working alongside ‘Challenge Central’ we guided riders from the IHG Foundation based across Europe. Starting in the centre of Leeds, we eventually arrived in York after visiting some of the most iconic sites in Yorkshire.
Another great weekend of cycling in North Yorkshire. Almost 200 km covered over quiet roads, many of which were used during the TDF and recent Tour de Yorkshire. All thanks to some great local characters and friends from the South of England.
A great few days of cycling in Majorca! Sunshine, quiet roads and a top sports hotel; it couldn’t be better. For Scott and Jill it is about increasing their self-confidence on two wheels and the climb and descent of the Lluc Monastery certainly achieved that for Scott. Maybe next time we can attempt the climb of La Calobra?
Great day today in Harrogate with the culimination of both the mens and womens stages of the Tour de Yorkshire. Met many cyclists and like-minded people in the Cycling Festival and will be set-up in the Harrogate Fan Zone throughout the final stage tomorrow.
Just completed the repair and servicing of 20 road-bikes and 6 mountain bikes. Staff and students at the Army Foundation College are now free to make the most of the better weather and get out on their bikes.
