Bike Servicing & Repairs
A bike just like any other machine with moving parts. In order for it to work efficiently it needs to be cared for and maintained on a regular basis. At VO Cycles we have a fully qualified road and mountain-bike mechanic trained to the highest industry standard for bike maintenance service (CYTECH 3).
You can be assured that your bike will be looked after when you have it serviced with us. The type of bike you ride and your usage will dictate the frequency of servicing, although an annual check over and service is best done at least annually. We recommend that before every ride you give your bike a visual check-over to make sure that there are no loose parts, frayed cables, splits in tyres or obstructions in the wheels.

For ease and simplicity there are 3 types of services available, but we will be happy to discuss an appropriate bespoke package aimed at your own situation.
BRONZE SERVICE
Great if your bike has been in the shed for a while or if you want peace of mind prior to a big ride or sportive. It includes all of the following:-
Frame and forks checked for damage

Brakes adjusted
-
Gears adjusted
-
Bolts checked and tightened
-
Headset, bottom bracket, wheel bearings checked for free movement
-
Any further work recommended for the future
SILVER SERVICE
An mid-season service and great to have every 6 months or so. Including the following:-
Frame & forks wiped down and checked for alignment

Drive-train removed, de-greased, cleaned, checked for wear and re-lubricated
-
Headset checked for free movement and adjusted if required
-
Bottom Bracket checked for free movement and adjusted if required
-
Allen bolts checked and tightened to correct torque
-
External adjustment of all bearings
-
Lubrication of chain, mechs & cables
-
Adjustment of brakes and gears
-
Wheel hubs and rims checked for damage and wear and trued if required
-
Pump and inspect tyres for wear and tear
-
Safety check (all fittings / mudguards / racks etc. are securely fastened) Brakes checked for effective operation and adjusted
GOLD SERVICE
The full service offers you a thorough overhaul, with the aim of restoring your bike to how it worked when it was brand new. It includes all of the following:-
Bike stripped down to the frame, then cleaned and checked for alignment and damage.

All threads cleaned and checked.

Hubs disassembled, cleaned, inspected, then rebuilt with fresh grease, refitted & checked for movement

Bottom Bracket removed, cleaned, inspected, then rebuilt with fresh grease, refitted & checked for movement

Headset removed, cleaned, inspected, then rebuilt with fresh grease, refitted & checked for movement
-
All other fittings removed, checked for wear, cleaned and re-lubricated replacing all cables and housings

Brake blocks / disc pads checked and replaced if required

Replacement of any other worn parts if required
-
Safety check (all fittings / mudguards / racks etc. are securely fastened)

Chain cleaned and lubricated, gears set up
GENERAL MAINTENANCE
